About Oakmark

Add value to your portfolio

The Oakmark Funds can serve as a core holding in an overall portfolio, as a building block for investors just getting started with mutual funds, or as a way to enhance the diversification and return potential of the stock portion of an existing portfolio.

Investment accounts can be established with us directly, and Oakmark Funds can be purchased via brokerage accounts, investment advisors and other financial intermediaries. The Funds are also available to investors planning for retirement through Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA) and employer-sponsored retirement plans, such as 401(k) plans.

These IRA accounts are available directly from Oakmark:

  • Traditional IRA: Investments grow tax-deferred and contributions may be tax-deductible, depending on income level and participation in an employer-sponsored plan.
  • Roth IRA: Contributions are not deductible, but investments grow tax-deferred and qualified withdrawals are tax-free.
  • Rollover IRA: For retiring workers and those changing jobs. An employer-sponsored retirement plan (401(k), pension or profit-sharing plan) can be converted into a rollover IRA to retain the investment's tax-deferred status.
  • SEP IRA: For self-employed individuals or small businesses. Earnings accumulate on a tax-deferred basis and contribution limits are generally higher than for a traditional or Roth IRA.
  • SIMPLE IRA: For companies with 100 or fewer employees. A Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees (SIMPLE) IRA requires employer contributions, while employees have the option to contribute as well.

Oakmark also offers Education Savings Accounts (formerly known as Education IRAs). ESA contributions are not tax-deductible, but they grow tax-deferred and withdrawals are tax-free when used for eligible expenses (including tuition, books and room/board) related to elementary, secondary or higher education.

More information about Oakmark accounts is available in the Investing With Us section.
