Traditional IRA An IRA (Individual Retirement Account) is a voluntary, tax-sheltered retirement plan for wage-earning individuals and/or their spouses. Contributions may be tax deductible (based on adjusted gross income) and grow tax deferred. Income earners and their spouses may each contribute annually until the age of 70 1/2. Distributions must commence upon reaching age 70 1/2.
